Bloomington South Week 3 Rankings

I'll throw out my 2 cents since I am sitting at conferences waiting for parents to show up with their snot-nose kids, and I like that I was called out in action, not name, for my ridiculous shot selection. I am not going to bother with the teams that are playoff fodder..

TEAM (RECORD) VS OTHERS:

BOBCATS (3-0) 1-0 : They are good. From what I have seen they are a solid team that can shoot, get up the floor and actually play defense. Wolf and Roell are solid. Epple, like me, has not seen a shot he doesn't like, but makes up for missed shots with timely passing and rebounding. The role players know when to turn it up and when to defer to their big guns. They will be tough to beat.

NUGGETS (3-0) 0-0: So, we played these guys in the playoffs last year and planned on needing to guard only 3 guys, Kirby, Ferber (my dad's boss!) and Thomas. We lost by 20. Theisen was the difference maker. However it looks like he doesn't make it to all the games, thankfully. Ferber blocks like LeBron, the shooters shoot well, the role guys don't force anything. I suspect they'd beat the Pupps right now...

TIMBERPUPPIES (2-1) 0-1: Maybe they have too much individual talent? A team of All Stars, MVPs, All Time everythings adds Ryan Samuelson (my Celtics teammate) who is really good. On any other team Byrne would take 20 shots. Obviously Wenzel and Trejo could combine for 75 on any given night, which makes defending their squad tough. Obviously the Bobcats figured out a plan of attack. Haven't had the pleasure of playing them yet, but look forward to it.

SPHINX (3-0) 0-0: If you've seen us play, you've seen me shoot. So far it's went well because we've played fodder. Colvin and Heieie man the block with grit and I stay as far away from the basket as possible. When we swing the ball and take open shots it's a thing of beauty, but I usually don't allow that to happen. We play the Nuggets and Bobcats the next two weeks. Time to make a leap.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.  Shoot away.

It's fairly easy to predict TPups vs Bobcats in the B-South Finals.

Re: Bloomington South Week 3 Rankings

Can people please get off the Nuggets bandwagon. Seriously, they would not beat the Pups right now and they're not going anywhere. The Bobcats played a great second half last week. And as much as I dislike the Pups, they are very good. I think they are going to run the table with ease the rest of the regular season.

Also, pound for pound, Danny Simmer is the best player in UH. I defy you to tell me otherwise.

Nice pickups Hot Tub.  Nothing like a couple of ABA guys beating up on rec guys to get a plastic trophy..., but wait, that won't happen because you won't beat us again.  Glad to see you are geared up for battle though.  It would have been 20-30 points before but MM and JP will keep it sub 10 now so that salt on the wound won't sting so bad.

Oh contraire Mr. Neuenfeldt.  This is the Nuggets year.  We are off to our best ever start (4-0).  Granted, we've played two 0-4 teams, but we've played our last two games with only 6 guys (absent Theisen and Jansen).  When we've got our full squad present, which we anticipate to be the case the rest of the season as Theisen has missed time due to a hamstring injury and Jansen has had Swine Flu (that's right, stay far away from him on the court), we can't be matched up with.  We're bigger and more physical than the Pups.  We've got more weapons than the Sphinx.  The Bobcats will be our toughest test, and we get them next week.  So stay on the bandwaggon folks, it will be a fun ride!

Re: Bloomington South Week 3 Rankings

Well I wish you and your Nuggets luck, Mr. Kirby. I think you are going to need it. Beat the Sphinx tonight and I'll believe that you guys are the third best team in Bloomington. And if you do meet the Pups in the playoffs, let me offer a couple of pieces of advice:

First, keep an eye on Jude. He aint the cleanest player I've ever seen. Also, they seem to play better when he's in the game. But the main reason to watch him is for that exact last reason. He plays so little right now that he automatically thinks he's supposed to come out whenever a sub comes in, sometimes leaving the team with 4 guys in the game and him storming off the bench while a play is in progress, resulting in a technical foul. Sound confusing? Even more confusing is that afterwards he appeared close to a physical confrontation with, of all people, the head of the UH League. Choose a different target, Jude.

Second, watch London closely. He works on the refs even before the game starts. Shaking hands and dishing out compliments like he's looking for a VIP room at The Seville. You don't have to worry much about his play. He wants to play about as much as his teammates want him to play. And lastly, he is very quick to attribute success to the ability of his teammates when things are going well, and throw God under the bus when shots aren't falling (not joking).

Finally, keep the game close. Grind it out. And then with a minute or so to go, muscle Trejo up. He will get frustrated and commit a stupid foul. And the refs will be tired of his endless complaining at that point and T him up. He nearly cost his team a victory last week, and they were ahead by 10 points with a minute to go. It's funny because I don't remember all this complaining when he was a Riddler. And, he was the only player to get a technical last week from refs that more than one player said are the best refs UH has ever had.

Even if you take my advice and play a great game, do I think you are going to beat the Pups? Nope. But maybe you should do some recruiting? Apparently Marcus Marshall's retirement lasted 4 games. Throw one of your guys on injured reserve, pick up Marshall, and watch him stick to his old team in the playoffs.

This is my first T-Pups post ever without one derogatory thing said about Kyle Wenzel. What is the world coming to?

Re: Bloomington South Week 3 Rankings
Joe, I was rather upset about that technical foul for a few reasons. Before the time out, I came to the scorers table to check in, providing my number and the scorers table acknowledged that I had checked in. After the time out, I am free to enter the game at anytime much like as it's legal to be outside of the playing court at anytime while presently checked in the game. I can not how ever come back into playing court and instantly touch the ball. What happened was rather silly but still did not legally warrant a technical. I was most pissed off about how the head of the league handled the situation, alerting the refs as to what happened and what should result of it when he is not in charge of officiating the game and should have stayed out of it (all with a shit eating grin). Also, I am not a cheap player. As much as you get me fired up, I still like your comments.

Re: Bloomington South Week 3 Rankings

Jude,

You are absolutely right about the shit eating grin. Damn that was funny. Gotta love Chad. And I understand your frustration with the technical call. But consider being a little frustrated with your own team. It's automatically assumed that you and London are coming out when someone subs. If I were you, I would have been confused whether I was in the game or not. So if the other guys are going to play nearly all of the minutes and take nearly all of the shots, the least they can do is let you know when they're out so you don't have to assume it's you.

And I didn't call you cheap. I said not the cleanest. And my original response was directed at the Nuggets. And they have Schleuss, who actually is a cheap as hell player.

To Hot Tub,

A couple of questions/comments. First, how are you going to start three guys that you just signed this week and move three guys who have been starting to the bench? Second, if J. Moore shoots 3 times in the game tomorrow, it's 3 times too many. Lastly, Celtics should win by 80 tomorrow. Anything less should be considered a loss. Celtics - undefeated regular season, 1st round playoff loss to Bad Boys 3.
