How do you keep track of active players

Here in Parker/Colorado, people started returning to Squash courts but even now, its not easy to find the players. There are very few regular players. We here did not find a better way to communicate with eachother in a way that who is available or who is busy or who will be available? Unless you dont poke directly, no one comes forward. But everyone wants to play if you call them

Do you have any email list outside LTF like yahoogroups or google or ... ?

Do you use Google calendar?

Do you use personal contact list?

Do you use some feature of LTF that I/we dont know of?

How your group is keeping track of active players? Or non-active players to motivate them to come back.

Thanks

Abbas

Re: How do you keep track of active players

Abbas,

As you know, I do my best to organize the squash in Parker and here is a summary to date:

-We have 2 courts, close to 100 people on the list of players of which about 25-30 are fully active
-We have tried Facebook in the past but, not everyone used it
-We had a Google Calender before but many did not want to use it
-The MYLT discussions are not really a venue to set up matches, these are discussion areas and your own past posts have indicated that you have not been pleased with the discussion area as a place to post match requests. I fully agree, especially when a local match request is posted to the LTF national discussion area for squash
-The online ability ability to schedule a court does not address the need to find an opponent
-The one possible mechanism was the Squash Challenge Ladders that we had been hopeful people would start to use in Parker but, after many discussions, people are not convinced that they need or want this. Most are happy just playing as is, without having the challenge or ranking capability that is provided by this new and nice US-squash tool
-Finally, it has been made very clear to me that a league night in Parker would not work since with travel, family and other unpredictable committments, getting people to show up consistently on the same night is not feasible

So what's a girl to do

After the recent message I sent to the Parker membership asking this same question, the consensus was for people who needed matches to send a weekly e-mail with your playing options and make your own matches.   The old fashioned way still seems to work best for most people.  I am sorry that this is not the option you had hoped for but, seems to be the reply that people came back with.

We do have some very good things happening that you can be a part of

-Cross Club Challanges between LTF Parker and others in the Denver area that have been exciting
-Our local squash professional has a crew of people he is teaching now and he has been a good reference for new players
-Sat and Sun AM round robins have been growing
-Denver area tournements are running on a regular basis now
-LTF has their own events and activites planned to help you get more squash in, DAC challange is next week
-We have established our place in Parker to protect the courts and for people to have the proper gear and shoes when playing.  Our courts are in great shape compared to many I have seen and remain so

I hope you can find the matches you need and if anyone has a better way, would love to hear it.
