Getting back to who I was! 10 months ago in My Story by jfazi23 jfazi23

Last year there were two things that really started to bother me. First, going up the stairs at work, a single flight, and I would be winded by the time I got to the top.  Second, I started trying to avoid looking in the mirror when was getting into or out of the shower, I was just not happy with the extra lbs I had added.

Other people in my life had great success at reducing their weight by watching what they ate, how often, and portion control.  So I decided to try it out myself.  Three months later the results were phenominal,  I had lost 20 lbs, was feeling more energetic and healthier.  I looked back at the foods and amount that I ate and was supprised that I did not gain more weight faster following those habits.  I still had a problem with being too tired after brief physical exersise, like stairs.

I was starting to like what I saw in the mirror again, improving, but I still wanted to get back to feeling proud of myself. At the start of June last year at the propting of someone close to me, I joined up with Life Time again and started working out a couple days a week.  That was just the ticket to put on the finishing touches on what I had started. She pushed me to 90 minute cardio workouts.  Something I never could have done on my own. I also added a 30 minute light weight workout a couple times a week.

By Thanksgiving I had lost another 15 lbs and running up the stairs was no problem!!!  I like how I look, and the energy I feel is phenominal.

I have continue to workout a couple times a week and my rediscovered energy and athletism have lead me to try new things and revisit old ones.  I recently tried rock climbing at Life Time and it was amazing!!!  I have also started meeting with the Run Club on Wednesdays and uncovered exactly how much I had missed my running days.
