Changes in yoga at LTF!

Posted by Kimgoad Dec 9, 2009

I am looking forward to the new changes at LTF in January! Renaming our classes Vinyasa Level 1, 2, and 3  will enable members to choose the best class at any given time on his or her yoga journey. For example, if you choose a level 1 class, be assured that the teacher will not include bakasana (crow) or sirsasana (headstands) in the practice. Ask questions and be informed about which class you choose, and if in doubt, choose a lower level than you think you might need. That's what I'd do! Then, work up. We will also have Yoga Sculpt, which is yoga with small hand weights. Level 3 will have some pretty tough poses that were not offered at LTF in the past. Fun!!!!

We are also, like most of the other LTF clubs, going to be offering more workshops (2 hours one time classes) and more intensives ( 8 class sessions.) Look for more information on those soon. They will be taught by our 200 or 500 ryt teachers, as well as the Vin 1, 2, and 3 classes, and the sculpt class. Our other wonderful yoga teachers will teach Yoga for Athletes.

I love all the new classes, clear descriptions, and more hours of yoga on the schedule. There will be something for everyone.

Namaste,

Kim

Yin Yang

Posted by Kimgoad Oct 19, 2009
Yin Yang made and it's a blast. I love how yin works the joints (tendons, ligaments, and bone) and yang works the muscle. I think it's a great learning experience to try different styles of yoga. I love vinyasa, but trying specific styles is fun and educational. I hope this class sticks and we can do it again and again. There are only 25 yin poses, but repeating them never gets old, and we can vary the yang to our hearts content. I especially loved working on head stands in the yang.

yukta yoga

Posted by Kimgoad Oct 6, 2009

I enjoyed teaching yukta yoga this week. I think the yogis who come to my classes liked it, too. I will teach that style again from time to time.  Creating the flows is fun and it energizes me to explore new styles. I LOVE YOGA!!!!

I am also loving Yin Yang and can't wait to teach it sooner or later.

Today Susan Greer and I took a class from our teacher, Sloane Park, who nearly killed us both dead...in a good way, of course. LTF yogi Kim Kervin was in class as well. The yoga world is pretty small. Afterward, Susan and I drove to Dallas to get some business done, then we went to Lululemon to get some new yoga pants and such. Afterward, the cherry on top (or cucumber), was lunch at Cosmic Cafe. If you ever want a really fun experience in Dallas that has yoga written all over it, try Cosmic Cafe. It's on Oak Lawn. It's vegetarian, but even if you're a meat eater, you will still find something you will love to eat. We both had the falafel-YUM!!!

Sunday Yoga

Posted by Kimgoad Sep 13, 2009
As I wind down the day, today's yoga class popped back into my mind. I am truly enjoying teaching yoga on the weekend. I think the Sunday time slot has such a lovely feel and I'm so happy everyone is being so welcoming. I know it's hard when there is a schedule change, but this has been very nice. I look forward to getting to know more of the members who enjoy yoga on the weekends. And of course, I like seeing my regulars from Tuesdays and Thursdays. Speaking of which, don't forget that Toni will start teaching the Thursday time slot starting October 1st. It will be fun for members to get a new flavor of yoga. I will be Tuesdays at 12:15 PM and Sundays at 1:00 PM. Judy, enjoyed meeting your other lovely daughter today! Beth-are you reading? Say hello!

yoga class today

Posted by Kimgoad Aug 24, 2009
I had a nice practice today at my favorite studio with fellow yoga teacher Susan Greer. (I like to go to my teacher's studio about once per week.) It was HOT and I was sort of out of it since I didn't sleep well last night. But, every practice is different and I learn from each class. Afterward we went to Harvest Bread and I had a lovely Harvest vegetarian sandwich. Ahhhh, it's great to have the kiddos back in school so I can spend some more time on my yoga practice. A happy mom means a happy family!

What a great day! Today Toni, Tamara, and I taught the Yoga Mix from 9:30-11:30 in the Mind/Body Studio. There were over 30 people there and everyone worked hard and looked great. It was hot, steamy, sweaty yoga-just like I like it. Toni is one heck of a Power Yoga teacher! Great stuff. After that was a staff meeting where we learned about a cycle event coming up. It's four days of cycle per week, and all teachers are encouraged to participate. YIkes!  After my initial panic (lol) I thought it would be great fun. After finishing my yoga training in July, I've been craving a new challenge and it looks like I've found it. We also learned about how we can blog on MyLT, so here I am. After the meeting, I taught the 1 PM yoga class. I am enjoying this new time slot, and enjoying getting to know more LifeTime members.
